This listing is for a nice J.B. Owens Art Pottery Standard Glaze "Utopian" mug decorated with Cherries, c. early 1900's.
Standing 5 1/4" high and 3 1/2" in diameter.
Beautiful hand painted "Cherries" in the design with green foliage on a dark brown background. The base is signed with incised mark "Owens, 1035, Utopian".
This lovely mug is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with minor light crazing throughout.
The J. B. Owens Company operated in Jamesville, Ohio from 1891-1907. His first decorated pottery line was called "Utopia" and was a standard brown-ware with underglaze slip decoration similiar to that produced by Roseville, Weller and Rookwood's standard glaze art pottery.
